Cardiovascular Credentialing International Awarded ANSI/ISO/IEC Accreditation

Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) has announced the awarding of program accreditation for its credentialing examinations from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). CCI has met the accreditation requirements to earn Accreditation Number 0777 under ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024:2003 General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification Systems of Persons. CCI, based in Raleigh, NC, will now be regarded as an ANSI-accredited Certifier—0777.

On June 9, 2008, the ANSI Personnel Certification Accreditation Committee (PCAC) met and took action on the results of CCI’s Initial Assessment. The PCAC voted to award CCI accreditation for the following Scopes:

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) and
  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)

CCI President John Toptine stated, “This is a tremendous accomplishment for CCI. It comes as a result of the efforts of our Board and staff to make CCI the premiere credentialing body in the Cardiovascular Industry.”

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has served in its capacity as administrator and coordinator of the United States private sector voluntary standardization system for more than 90 years. ANSI was founded in 1918 by five engineering societies and three government agencies. The Institute remains a private, nonprofit membership organization supported by a diverse constituency of private and public sector organizations. ANSI is the official U.S. representative to the International Organization of Standardization (ISO).
