LANHAM, MD, April 28, 2008 – SVU recently completed the judging of applications received from six SVU student members interested in being the new Student Representative on the 2008 SVU Board of Directors. The six students were from five ultrasound programs at:

  • Cuyahoga Community College, Parma, OH
  • Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL (2 students)
  • Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls, OR
  • Saint Catherine College, Saint Catherine, KY
  • Spokane Community College, Spokane, WA

A panel of judges of SVU Board Directors reviewed all of the student applications and their resumes and selected Bonita “Bonnie” August of Cuyahoga Community College, Parma, OH, as the new appointed Student Representative on the 2008 Board of Directors. Bonnie is in the vascular sonography program at Cuyahoga Community College and is scheduled to graduate in May 2009.

She will be attending both the June 4 SVU Board of Directors meeting in San Diego, as well as the Dec. 12-13 SVU Board meeting in Northern Kentucky. As the student representative on the SVU Board of Directors for 2008, this is a great opportunity for Bonnie to learn about the inner workings of the SVU Board, and in return contribute her input and unique student perspective on appropriate Board meeting discussions this year. This is a non-paid, non voting position, but SVU provides her with a complimentary hotel room for the Board meetings and reimburses her for any travel expenses to attend the two 2008 Board meetings.

Bonnie also will serve on the SVU Membership Committee and will be profiled in a future issue of the monthly e-Spectrum online newsletter on the SVU website. At the conclusion of her one-year term on the SVU Board, Bonnie will be required to write an article for e-Spectrum describing her experiences in serving on the SVU Board as the appointed Student Representative.
The previous appointed Student Representatives on the SVU Board of Directors were:

  • 2007 – Carol Kozusko, Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NY
  • 2006 – Bruce Mashburn, Coosa Valley Technical College, Rome, GA
  • 2005 – Robert Sexton, Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls, OR.
