September 2008Thanks to SVU Members for Participating in DRA Impact Survey |
|
Recently SVU asked its members to participate in a joint SVS/SVU Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) Impact Survey. In January 2007, cuts in Medicare payments for many office-based vascular ultrasound imaging procedures were significantly decreased. Data is critical in making a case to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Congress for any exemption of vascular ultrasound from the DRA cuts. SVS/SVU needed the personal feedback from our members on how the DRA cuts affected their vascular labs. We are pleased to report there were a total of 428 overall survey responses – 215 (55%) were from vascular lab medical directors, 176 (45%) were from vascular lab technical directors, and 37 individuals did not respond if they were a medical director or a technical director. The responses we received will be used in our future communications with CMS and Congress on the negative impact on medical imaging by the Deficit Reduction Act. Thank you for your assistance. |
